Sick.

Lemon Tea

I'm sorry to report that I've been feeling quite ill lately.
I have a nasty cold/cough that just won't seem to go away.
I've been sipping loads of honey-and-lemon tea,
While knocking back cough syrup and Nyquil.

This sickness has come at the worst possible time,
Right smack in the middle of exams and papers,
And a trip to Montebello. Poo.

On Saturday morning, The Boyfriend and I drove out to Quebec,
And spent the night at the gorgeous Fairmont Chateau Montebello.
Unfortunately, I spent the better part of the evening in bed.

We did, however, have a lovely venison dinner,
Accompanied by the most delicious butternut squash soup I've ever had.
I wish I had snapped more photos - I brought my camera along with full intentions

To take tons of photographs, but I just didn't have the strength.
I am, however, determined to go back there.
Perhaps for a birthday weekend?

Montebello

I can't see myself posting much in these next few weeks,
Until I'm fully done my exams and papers.
Between being ill and sleeping, and typing up criminal justice reform papers,
I'm dead tired.

Wishing everyone else luck on their holiday exams and term assignments!
Thirteen more sleeps until Christmas!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday

These past few days has been all about spending time with The Girls.
Friday night, we cracked a bottle of vino and made homemade pizza,
And scarfed it all down while watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Needless to say, no one felt the need to have dessert,
After watching Miranda Kerr strut her stuff down the cat walk.
Girl looks ah-maz-ing. And she's had a baby. This year.

Today, after Sorority Initiation, everyone headed down to our local Build-A-Bear,
For a sisterhood-bonding event and "Bear Exchange".
It was a great way to welcome our new girls into the chapter and to wind down,
After a crazy night of sisterly fun.

As busy as this weekend has been, I'm grateful for all the quality girl time.
Nothing beats having a laugh with a few good friends,
While hand-stuffing teddy-bears (the stuffing machine broke!)

The fall semester has drastically slowed down,
And I only have a few more assignments to hand in,
Before flying back West for Christmas holidays! Eek!

Link Love!

I promise I will not blog any more about the VS 2011 Fashion Show, but in case you missed all my postings (and everyone else's posting), HERE's a quick slideshow rundown of the show. That is all.
The Cupcake Project is my new, favorite baking blog. It's no secret that cupcakes are all the rage right now - Stef, the creator of The Cupcake Project, puts a fresh new spin on these tasty little treats. Cupcakes Benedict anyone? Or perhaps a Creme Brulee one instead?

Completely in lust with Verameat. I need.

Gaga sports Versace in her latest music video, "Marry The Night" (I sort of love the Swarovski Bedazzling...)

Read all about Christian Louboutin's online advent calender. A new, over-the-top shoe, presented in the 25 days leading up the Christmas? Sounds delicious.

Barbie

'Tis the season! Think positive thoughts, spread some cheer and eat lots of Christmas cookies - try not to let the Holidays stress you out!

Wishing for snowflakes and Christmas lights,

Bookworm

"Teenage girls, please don't worry about being super popular in high school, or being the best actress in high school, or the best athlete. Not only do people not care about any of that the second you graduate, but when you get older, if you reference your success in high school too much, it actually makes you look kind of pitiful, like some babbling old Tennessee Williams character with nothing else going on in her current life. What I've noticed is that almost no one who was a big star in high school is also a big star later in life. For us overlooked kids, it's so wonderfully fair."

-Mindy Kaling, excerpt from her novel Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (and other concerns)?

If only this book was around when I was in school...

Blue Lipstick, Black Wigs, Photoshoots and Friends.

Soy Latte
On set, with blue lipstick transfer on my soy latte. Thanks, Dan Grant, for taking a quick snap.

After a very productive three days in Toronto,
I boarded the Greyhound and headed back to Ottawa last night.
So sad, but a life necessity.

I shot with a variety of very talented photographers Sunday through Tuesday.
I was even able to squeeze in a social time,
And caught up with my roommate from first-year university.

Jenn and I had a delicious dinner
One of the best sushi places in the entire city, hands down.

I also caught up with another one of my friends, J.P.
We grabbed a beer at The Bier Market on Tuesday evening.
I slurped down a Hoegaarden, while we chatted about his new house and my modeling.

It was great to be back in the city, yet again, shooting,
But it can be pretty exhausting, which is why I wasn't able to blog a lot.
I kept kicking myself for forgetting my camera at home.

The next phone I buy will definitely have some sort of photo-taking device in it.
I have a crappy, old Blackberry that's rock solid.
It's never broken down on me and my phone bill is cheap.

Jaclyn Locke Photoshoot Snap
Quick photo with Sunday's team.
MUA Natalie on the far left, and stylist Monika on the right.
Jaclyn Locke, our photographer, took this quick snap.
Can you guess who the crazy girl in the middle with the black wig is?

I've been cutting back a lot on the shopping,
But, nevertheless, I still couldn't resist stopping by the BMV bookstore,
And picking up a few novels.

Currently, I am working through the Philippa Gregory's books,
Author of The Other Boleyn Girl.
I also picked up Chelsea Handler's book, at a steal of $4.99.

All this being said,
I still had to miss out on the VS Fashion Show,
Which pained me greatly.

Luckily, The Amazing Boyfriend is currently in the process of downloading it.
We spent tonight curled up on the couch, watching Terra Nova,
And eating a delicious, home-cooked meal of Tilapia and roast potatoes.

Not going to lie, it's nice to be home.
The past few weeks have been quite busy
And I am looking forward to sleeping in late on Saturday morning.

Only a few more weeks until I head home for Christmas!
